online counselling works very similar to face-to-face counselling, without the hassle of travelling and finding transport and parking. Online counselling is great for those who are time-poor, mums who cannot leave the baby, people living in remote areas and also young people who seem to embrace the technology aspect.
We work with SKYPE mostly and all you need is a computer, a private room and an internet connection. If you do not have SKYPE dont worry it is free to use and we can send you easy to follow instructions to use. In some circumstances we also do telephone counselling if there is a problem with setting up a SKYPE account.
How are counselling sessions structured?
The sessions do not follow a rigid pattern, rather they are like a winding path which sometimes branches off and changes direction. The first session is generally where we find out about you, what is troubling you, what is happening for you in your life and what life looks like for you at the moment. We also discuss what goals you may have from our sessions together. The next few sessions generally are about us working further on what is happening for you at the moment and we start using acceptance and commitment therapy with a goal towards living a more full, rich and meaningful life.
Every client is different and unique so no sessions are the same and this allows us to follow your journey, thoughts, feelings and emotions. We work on a person centered basis using acceptance and commitment therapy. We do show clients techniques and strategies to help with difficult thoughts and feelings. We generally suggest at least 8 sessions but sometimes clients require a lot more.
How do I book a session?
Booking a session is very easy. Just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will email you or call you and discuss what you would like to get from our work together and then we will schedule an appropriate time for the first session.
